This is a video still from Nicholas Petit recording the first movements for the movements database. The data will be used by the laboratory of nonlinear systems ( LANOS) in EPFL to do pattern recognition on the movements.

The data has to be large because it will be divided into three chunks (learning, validation and testing). The validation set is used to decide when to stop learning to avoid overfitting.
